AI Prime 16HD Reef Black

AquaIllumination Prime 16HD Reef LED Light

The AquaIllumination Prime 16HD Reef is a compact, high-performance LED light designed for nano and small reef aquariums. Despite its small footprint, it delivers up to 59W of power with strong blue, royal blue, violet and UV output, making it suitable for a wide range of soft corals, LPS and appropriately placed SPS corals.

Its combination of strong output, flexible spectrum control and app-based programming makes it a popular choice for reef keepers wanting powerful lighting without a large fixture.

Key Features

• Up to 59W maximum power
• Approximate effective spread of 61 × 61 cm
• Peak output of around 100 µmol/m²/s PAR at 61 cm depth under manufacturer test conditions
• Suitable for soft corals, LPS and SPS in appropriately sized aquariums
• Full-spectrum LED control
• Dedicated moonlight channel
• App-based programming
• Sunrise, sunset and moonlight scheduling
• HyperDrive power redistribution
• Compact and modern design
• Multiple mounting options available

High Output in a Compact Fixture

The Prime 16HD is designed to deliver strong reef lighting from a very small body. With up to 59W of total power, it is particularly well suited to nano reefs and smaller marine aquariums where a compact light is preferred without sacrificing performance.

Its output can provide useful PAR across a roughly 61 × 61 cm area, although actual coverage will vary depending on mounting height, aquarium depth, rockwork and coral placement.

HyperDrive Technology

The Prime 16HD uses HyperDrive technology, which allows unused power from lower-set colour channels to be redirected to channels that are being driven harder.

For example, if red, green or white channels are turned down, more available power can be directed toward blue, royal blue, violet or UV channels while remaining within the light’s overall power limit.

This gives reef keepers greater control over spectrum without simply increasing total power consumption.

LED Configuration

The Prime 16HD Reef includes:

• 4 × Cool White
• 4 × Blue
• 4 × Royal Blue
• 1 × Photo Red
• 1 × Green
• 1 × Violet
• 1 × UV
• 1 × Dedicated Moonlight LED

This spectrum is designed to provide strong reef-focused blue output while still allowing plenty of flexibility for overall colour balance and viewing preference.

Reef Performance

The Prime 16HD is well suited to:

• Soft coral aquariums
• LPS reef tanks
• Mixed reef systems
• SPS in higher-light areas
• Nano reef aquariums
• Smaller marine displays

For SPS-heavy aquariums, tank depth and coverage become more important. Wider or deeper systems may require multiple fixtures to achieve more even PAR and reduce shadowing.

Optics & Coverage

The Prime 16HD uses high-efficiency optics designed to provide a balance of spread, penetration and colour blending.

Performance Specifications:

• Maximum Power: 59W
• Approximate Coverage: 61 × 61 cm
• Peak PAR: approximately 100 µmol/m²/s at 61 cm depth
• Dimensions: approximately 12.4 × 12.4 × 3.4 cm
• Weight: approximately 0.43 kg
• Power Supply: 24V, 2.5A / 60W

Smart App Control

The Prime 16HD can be programmed through the AquaIllumination app, allowing you to control:

• Individual colour channels
• Overall intensity
• Sunrise and sunset
• Moonlight
• Daily lighting schedules
