Aquasonic Bio-Tet – Broad-Spectrum Antibiotic Fish Treatment

Aquasonic Bio-Tet is a broad-spectrum antibacterial medication designed to help treat bacterial infections in aquarium fish. It contains tetracycline and is commonly used in quarantine or hospital tanks when fish show signs of bacterial disease such as ulcers, sores, redness, fin damage or other external bacterial symptoms.

Bio-Tet is best used when a bacterial infection is suspected rather than as a general preventative treatment.

Key Features

  • Broad-spectrum antibacterial treatment
  • Helps treat common bacterial infections
  • Suitable for freshwater aquarium fish
  • Useful for ulcers, sores and bacterial lesions
  • Can assist with fin rot and damaged fins
  • Suitable for quarantine and hospital tanks
  • Tablet form for easy dosing
  • Contains tetracycline hydrochloride

When to Use

Aquasonic Bio-Tet may be suitable when fish show signs such as:

  • Red sores or ulcers
  • Fin rot or deteriorating fins
  • Reddened skin
  • Open wounds
  • Bacterial lesions
  • Lethargy
  • Reduced appetite associated with infection

Dosage

Dose 1 tablet per 20 litres of aquarium water.

Each tablet contains approximately:

  • 375 mg tetracycline hydrochloride
  • Equivalent to approximately 346 mg tetracycline

Treatment Directions

For best results:

  • Use in a separate hospital or quarantine tank where possible
  • Remove activated carbon and other chemical filtration during treatment
  • Maintain strong aeration
  • Monitor fish closely throughout treatment
  • Avoid combining with other medications unless specifically directed
  • Follow the product label for any repeat-dosing instructions
  • Carry out an appropriate water change after treatment

Because treatment-frequency instructions can vary between product listings, I’d avoid stating a fixed daily redosing schedule unless it is printed on your current Bio-Tet packaging.

Important Information

Antibiotics should only be used where a bacterial infection is reasonably suspected. Unnecessary antibiotic use can place additional stress on fish and may reduce treatment effectiveness over time.

Do not use on fish intended for human consumption.

The Aquasonic Bio-Tet is a practical treatment option for aquarists needing a targeted antibacterial medication for infected, injured or recovering freshwater fish.
