Red Sea DipX is a highly effective coral dipping solution designed to help safely introduce new corals and live rock into a reef aquarium by removing unwanted hitchhikers before they enter the display system.

The concentrated formula uses a unique blend of herbal extracts to create a coral-safe external bath that encourages pests to detach from corals and rock. A simple 15-minute dip can help reduce the risk of introducing common coral pests into an established reef aquarium.

Effective Against Common Hitchhikers

DipX is effective against many common coral pests, including:

  • Acropora Eating Flatworms

  • Montipora Eating Nudibranchs

  • Acropora Red Bugs

  • Other unwanted coral and live rock hitchhikers

DipX can be used with SPS corals, LPS corals, soft corals, Zoanthids, mushroom corals including Discosoma and Ricordea, and live rock.

Dosage

Mix 10mL of DipX with 1L of aquarium water in a separate clean container.

This is a 1:100 dilution.

For example:

  • 1L bath – 10mL DipX

  • 2L bath – 20mL DipX

  • 5L bath – 50mL DipX

  • 10L bath – 100mL DipX

Directions for Use

  1. Shake DipX well before use.

  2. Fill a separate clean container with aquarium water.

  3. Add 10mL of DipX for every 1L of aquarium water.

  4. Stir the solution gently.

  5. Fully submerge the coral or live rock.

  6. Leave it in the DipX bath for 15 minutes.

  7. Gently swirl the coral or rock every few minutes to help dislodge unwanted organisms.

  8. After 15 minutes, remove the coral or rock.

  9. Rinse thoroughly in a separate container of clean saltwater.

  10. The coral or rock can then be introduced to the aquarium.

Reusing the Dip

The prepared DipX solution can be reused for up to 4 batches of corals or live rock.

Discard the prepared solution within 2 hours of mixing, even if it has not been used four times.

Important

DipX must never be added directly to the aquarium.

It is intended only for use as an external coral and live rock bath.

Do not use DipX for fish, clams, starfish, worms or other invertebrates. Corals should not remain in the bath for longer than 15 minutes.

What About Pest Eggs?

Coral dips cannot reliably penetrate the protective shells of flatworm and nudibranch eggs. Carefully inspect new corals for eggs, especially around exposed skeleton and the underside of coral colonies.

For corals where pest eggs are suspected, quarantine and repeated dipping may be required rather than relying on a single treatment.
