Red Sea Reef Foundation A is a concentrated calcium and strontium supplement formulated to maintain the foundation elements required for healthy coral growth and skeletal development in reef aquariums.
Calcium is continuously consumed by SPS and LPS corals, clams, coralline algae and other calcifying organisms. Reef Foundation A replenishes calcium together with strontium in a balanced ratio, helping maintain stable reef chemistry and supporting strong, consistent calcification.
It can be used as part of Red Sea’s complete Reef Foundation program alongside Foundation B for alkalinity and Foundation C for magnesium.

Key Features
- Provides calcium and strontium for coral skeletal growth
- Supports SPS, LPS, clams and other calcifying organisms
- Helps maintain stable calcium levels
- Suitable for mixed reef and SPS-dominant aquariums
- Highly concentrated formula
- Suitable for manual or automatic dosing
- Powder can be prepared as a concentrated stock solution
- Designed to work with Reef Foundation B and C
Liquid Dosage
1mL per 100L of aquarium water increases calcium by approximately 2ppm.
For example:
- 100L aquarium, increase by 10ppm – 5mL
- 200L aquarium, increase by 10ppm – 10mL
- 300L aquarium, increase by 10ppm – 15mL
- 500L aquarium, increase by 10ppm – 25mL
For established reef aquariums, test calcium regularly and adjust the daily dosage according to the aquarium’s actual calcium consumption.
Powder Mixing Instructions
Reef Foundation A Powder can be mixed with RO/DI water to create a concentrated stock solution equivalent to the ready-to-use liquid version.
Mix approximately 550g of Foundation A Powder with RO/DI water to prepare 1L of stock solution.
Once prepared at this concentration, 1mL per 100L increases calcium by approximately 2ppm.
Ensure the powder is fully dissolved before dosing or connecting the solution to an automatic dosing pump.
Recommended Use
Test calcium before making adjustments. Calculate the difference between the current calcium level and your target level, then dose accordingly.
Once the desired calcium level has been reached, monitor the aquarium over several days to determine its normal daily calcium consumption. Dose this amount each day to help maintain stable levels.
For reef aquariums, calcium is commonly maintained around 410–450ppm, depending on the type of reef system and nutrient level.
Using Foundation A, B & C Together
Reef Foundation A can be used alongside Foundation B and Foundation C to maintain balanced calcium, alkalinity and magnesium.
Do not mix the concentrated Foundation A, B and C supplements together in the same dosing container.
When dosing the different Foundation supplements separately, allow approximately 10 minutes between doses to help reduce the chance of precipitation.
