Red Sea Reef Foundation B – KH/Alkalinity

Red Sea Reef Foundation B is a concentrated alkalinity supplement designed to maintain the carbonate hardness required for stable pH, healthy coral growth and proper formation of coral skeletons in reef aquariums.

Corals continuously consume carbonates and bicarbonates as they grow. Foundation B replenishes these important buffering elements, helping maintain stable alkalinity and providing the carbonate components required for calcification.

Foundation B is designed to be used alongside Foundation A Calcium+ and Foundation C Magnesium as part of Red Sea’s complete Reef Foundation program.

Liquid Dosage

1mL per 100L of aquarium water increases alkalinity by approximately 0.1 dKH.

For example:

• 100L aquarium, increase by 1 dKH – 10mL
• 200L aquarium, increase by 1 dKH – 20mL
• 300L aquarium, increase by 1 dKH – 30mL
• 500L aquarium, increase by 1 dKH – 50mL

For established reef aquariums, alkalinity should be tested regularly and the daily dose adjusted according to the aquarium’s actual consumption.

Recommended Use

Test alkalinity before dosing and determine the difference between the current KH level and your desired target.

Make any required correction gradually rather than making large changes at once. Once the desired alkalinity has been reached, monitor KH over several days to determine the aquarium’s normal daily consumption.

Dose this amount each day to help maintain stable alkalinity.

Maintaining a stable KH level is especially important in SPS-dominant reef aquariums, where alkalinity consumption can be significant.

Powder Version

Foundation B Powder can be dissolved in RO/DI water to create a concentrated stock solution suitable for manual dosing or use with an automatic dosing pump.

Ensure the powder is completely dissolved before use and prepare the solution according to the manufacturer’s mixing ratio for Foundation B.

Using Foundation A, B & C Together

Foundation B should be used alongside Foundation A Calcium+ and Foundation C Magnesium where required to maintain balanced reef chemistry.

The three Foundation supplements should not be mixed together in the same dosing container.

When dosing Foundation A, B and C separately, allow approximately 10 minutes between each supplement to help reduce the risk of precipitation.

For best results, dose according to measured consumption rather than adding a fixed amount each day without testing.
